  • 1 (12-14 ounce) loaf French bread, sourdough, or challah
  • 8 ounces full-fat brick cream cheese, softened
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 and 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and layer half in the prepared pan.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese with confectioners' sugar and vanilla until smooth. Drop spoonfuls over the bread cubes.
  4. Layer remaining bread cubes on top.
  5. Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, brown sugar, and remaining vanilla; pour evenly over the layered bread.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Prepare topping by mixing brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and butter until crumbly; sprinkle on top.
  8. Bake for 45-55 minutes until golden brown.
