  • 1 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion, finely diced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 pack dinner rolls, 12 count (I use King's Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls)
  • 16 slices American cheese (I use Boar's Head)
  • 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • Pinch of salt and garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. white sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. distilled white vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter a baking sheet and set aside.
  3. In a sauté pan, heat olive oil and cook diced onions until translucent; add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  5. Slice rolls in half and layer the bottom halves on the baking sheet.
  6. Add slices of cheese followed by the beef mixture; top with more cheese.
  7. Cover with the top halves of rolls, brush with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, sugar, vinegar, salt, and pepper to prepare the sauce.
