  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ cup Christmas-colored sprinkles (jimmies)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 3 tablespoons buttermilk (plus more as needed)
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • Nonpareils (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×5-inch aluminum loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and almond extract.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined; gently fold in the sprinkles.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45–50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cooling in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, prepare the glaze with powdered sugar and buttermilk; drizzle over the bread and top with nonpareils.
