Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan to 350°F over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into a resealable plastic bag; snip a corner or use a funnel cake dispenser.
  6. Drizzle the batter into the hot oil in a circular pattern, overlapping lines to help shape.
  7. Fry each cake for about 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with powdered sugar dusted on top.
