  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 1 medium carrot, finely diced
  • 2 celery stalks, finely diced
  • 2 large garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 lb (500 g) lean ground beef
  • ½ cup (100 ml) dry red wine
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cans (14 oz each) crushed tomatoes
  • lb (900 g) gnocchi

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, and celery; cook until softened (8-10 minutes).
  2. Stir in garlic and ground beef; cook until browned (5-6 minutes).
  3. Pour in red wine; simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Mix in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes; bring to a boil and simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes.
  5. Cook gnocchi according to package instructions; drain.
  6. Combine gnocchi with sauce and garnish with Parmesan and basil before serving.
