Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by lining them with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; mix until well combined.
  3. Add the unsalted butter to the dry ingredients and beat on medium speed until the mixture has a coarse texture.
  4. Gradually add buttermilk and vanilla extract; mix on low speed until incorporated, then increase speed for an additional 30 seconds. Scrape down the bowl as necessary.
