Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup honey
  • 23 tablespoons hot sauce (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry.
  2. In one bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk.
  3. Dip each shrimp in buttermilk, then coat with the seasoned flour mixture. Repeat for extra crunch by dipping again in buttermilk before rolling in panko.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Fry shrimp in batches for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. For the glaze, combine honey, hot sauce, butter, red pepper flakes (optional), and apple cider vinegar in a saucepan over low heat until melted.
  6. Drizzle the hot honey glaze over the fried shrimp before serving warm.
