Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 large vidalia onion (diced)
  • 4 ounces sliced white mushrooms
  • 3 cups beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Fresh parsley or chives (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and seasonings until combined. Shape into four oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Brown patties on both sides, about 6-7 minutes total. Transfer to a platter and keep warm.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté diced onion until translucent, then add sliced mushrooms and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in thyme and flour, cooking for another minute before gradually adding beef stock while scraping the pan to incorporate browned bits.
  5. Once the gravy thickens, return patties to the skillet and simmer for an additional 5–7 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs.
