  • 3/4 cup sourdough discard
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
  • 6 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add honey, melted butter, water, and sourdough discard; stir until combined.
  5. Knead the dough for about five minutes until smooth.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  7. Spread the cinnamon filling over the dough.
  8. Roll tightly into a log and slice into twelve equal pieces.
  9. Place in a greased baking dish or cast iron skillet.
  10. Bake for 25-35 minutes until golden brown.
