  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1 package (11 oz) caramel bits
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 container chocolate fudge frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, milk, eggs, and canola oil with a hand mixer until smooth.
  3. Pour half the batter into the baking dish and bake for about 15 minutes.
  4. While baking, melt caramel bits with butter and evaporated milk in a saucepan over medium heat until smooth.
  5. Remove the cake from the oven, pour the caramel filling over it, and sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans.
  6. Spoon the remaining batter over the filling and return to the oven to bake for an additional 20 minutes.
  7. Cool completely on a wire rack before frosting with chocolate fudge frosting.
