  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In a bowl, bloom the yeast with warm milk and sugar. Combine flour, chai spices, salt, and sugar in a stand mixer. Add eggs, vanilla extract, softened butter, and bloomed yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
  2. Let it Rise: Form dough into a ball and let it rise in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap until doubled in size (about 1–1.5 hours).
  3. Prepare Filling and Sauce: Mix filling ingredients together. For the caramel sauce, heat cream with chai tea bags and mix into melted butter with brown sugar and spices.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling, roll tightly, slice into 12 pieces, and place them in a casserole dish over caramel sauce. Pour cream between rolls.
  5. Second Rise: Cover and let proof again for about an hour.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 29–32 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Frost: After cooling slightly, top with chai cream cheese frosting.
