  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup dulce de leche
  • 2 oz dark chocolate
  • 2 oz heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add vegetable oil, buttermilk, hot water, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
  4. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for approximately 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool cakes in pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
  6. For the frosting, whip egg whites to soft peaks; gradually add brown sugar until stiff peaks form; mix in butter and dulce de leche until smooth.
  7. Assemble by layering frosting between cooled cake layers and covering the top and sides.
  8. Prepare ganache by heating cream and pouring it over chopped chocolate; stir until smooth and drizzle over the frosted cake.
