Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Kashmiri or Himalayan green tea
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 12 Star anise
  • 2 Cardamom pods (crushed)
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • Sugar or honey to taste
  • Crushed nuts (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a saucepan and add green tea; let it boil for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in baking soda; boil for another 2 minutes until the water turns red.
  3. Add star anise, crushed cardamom, and cinnamon; boil for 1 minute.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes until reduced by half.
  5. Stir in salt; mix well.
  6. Add whole milk and bring to a boil while stirring often—watch as it turns pink!
  7. Strain into cups to remove spices and tea leaves.
  8. Sweeten with sugar or honey as desired.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
